The (also the ) Gansbach is an 11.1 km long tributary of the Lahn tributary Perf , which rises in the Lahn-Dill district and subsequently, in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district , flows through all three sub-communities of the large community of Angelburg until it reaches Steffenberg - Niedereisenhausen finally flows into the Perf from the left, which flows north from the right into the upper reaches of the Lahn.
Strictly hydrologically, the Gansbach is the main river of the Perf system (see below ).
geography
course
Its source river Hohe Gansbach rises on the Bottenhorn plateaus in the Gladenbacher Bergland , directly at the southern foot of its highest point, Angelburg , which it circles around a third clockwise. In the district of Hirzenhain (train station) of Eschenburg , about west of the Angelburg, another source river flows from the left, coming from the direction of the core town of Hirzenhain .
The river now leaves the Lahn-Dill district in a northerly direction and reaches Lixfeld , where after the inflow of the Breitebach, which comes back from Hirzenhain, it initially turns eastwards to Frechenhausen , before leaving the community of Angelburg via Gönnern in a northeasterly direction and finally flow into perfection in Niedereisenhausen.
In the middle course from Frechenhausen, the Gansbach has a comparatively wide valley, which is already part of the Breidenbacher Grund natural area and cuts a path into the border between the two natural areas at Niedereisenhausen, which otherwise runs in an east-west direction.
Tributaries
The only tributary, the km reaches a length of about 2, the left side from the Hirzenhain coming Breitenbach (2.2 km, 2,482 square kilometers, m mouth in about 450 height DGKZ 258142-2), which opens into Lixfeld.

- Breitebach (left), 2.2 km, 2.48 km²
- Britzenbach ( Gansbach ) ( left ), 1.4 km
- Beuerbach ( left ), 1.9 km
- Steinbach (GKZ 258142-914) ( right ), 1.7 km
- Hainbach ( right ), 1.2 km
- Trepbach (GKZ 258142-9914) ( left ), 0.6 km

On the main flow issue
At the confluence of the Perf and Gansbach in Niedereisenhausen, the Gansbach is 11.1 km long and has a catchment area of 23.174 km², while the Perf is only 8.3 km long at this point and has a catchment area of 18.848 km². Therefore, hydrologically, the Gansbach represents the actual main river of the Perf river system.
