history

founding

From 1821 onwards, the Grand Duchy of Hesse separated jurisdiction from administration on the lower level.

In the area of what would later become the Butzbach Regional Court, the administrative tasks were transferred to the newly founded Butzbach District Council and the jurisdiction to the newly founded Friedberg Regional Court .

The city of Butzbach was very dissatisfied with the decision, especially since the seat of the district administrator was moved from Butzbach to Friedberg in 1829 . The city complained in several submissions about the establishment of a court in Butzbach. In 1838 , Carl Knorr and Georg Krug , members of the second chamber of the Landtag of the Grand Duchy of Hesse , applied for an additional regional court to be set up in Butzbach. This was justified with an overload of the Friedberg district court. The application was successful. On July 1, 1840, the Butzbach Regional Court was established. His district consisted of communities that had previously belonged to the district of the Friedberg district court and two communities that were assigned to him from the district of the Gießen district court . The court was housed on the second floor of the town hall.

The newly established Butzbach Regional Court was staffed with a regional judge, a court assessor, a regional court actuary responsible for the secretarial business and two regional court clerks. The seat of the court was the Butzbach town hall.

Further development

After the revolution of March 1848, responsible for the management were circles disbanded, but after the victory of the reaction was revived in 1852 again. However, the assignment of individual communities to the districts was changed. In order to bring districts and judicial districts back into line, the judicial district of Butzbach was adapted to the new circumstances on April 15, 1853 (see: Overview).

On May 1, 1867, the municipality of Steinfurth was separated from the district of the Butzbach Regional Court and incorporated into the newly established district of Nauheim .

The End

With the Courts Constitution Act of 1877, the organization and names of the courts were standardized across the empire . On October 1, 1879, the Grand Duchy of Hesse therefore repealed the regional courts. Functionally, they have been replaced by local courts . So now that replaced local court Butzbach the district court Butzbach . The higher courts directly superordinate to the local courts were now called “ regional courts ”. The district court of Butzbach was assigned to the district of the regional court of Giessen .
