Carl Knorr (politician)

Carl Christian Knorr , from 1817 Knorr von Rosenroth (born October 18, 1771 in Friedberg (Hesse) , † June 30, 1853 in Gießen ) was a Hessian politician and former member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

family

Carl Knorr was the son of a prince Leiningen privy councilor Philipp Gottlieb Knorr (1742-1820) and his wife Anna Katharina nee of Runkel (1748-1829). Carl Knorr married Eleonore nee Langsdorf on October 24, 1796 in Giessen and Christine Marianne nee Hager (1787–1850) on December 21, 1806 in Friedberg. In 1817 the elevation to the nobility was confirmed as Knorr von Rosenroth . His son Christian Knorr (1800–1868) was also a member of the Hessian state parliament and Gießen district administrator.

education and profession

Carl Knorr was from the Count of Liningian and from 1816 the Grand Ducal Hessian Councilor in Friedberg. In 1817 he became a councilor in Gießen, and in 1818 a member of the church and school council. In 1828 he was promoted to the secret council. In 1832 he became a district councilor in the Gießen district and provincial commissioner for the province of Upper Hesse . In 1842 he was retired.

politics

In the 3rd and 4th electoral terms (1826-1830) he was a member of the second chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse. In the estates he represented the constituency of Upper Hesse 7 / Schotten .
