history

The place name is of a busy multi-clergy church , a so-called. Munster derived. Fauerbach vor der Höhe , Maibach and Bodenrod still belong to the parish today . The first documented mention that has been preserved comes from the year 1271, however, based on excavations, it is assumed that the first settlement took place as early as the Stone Age .

Between 1626 and 1628 Landgrave Philip III built. von Butzbach built an escape lock on the Schlossberg Haus Philippseck . Today only remains of it are preserved.

The Protestant church was consecrated on May 1, 1631. Below Philippseck was a smelting mill, which was used as a hammer mill and smelter in the times when silver and ore were mined in this area . The silver and ore mining ended in the 15th and 16th. Century. Lead was mined until 1878. The last mine ( Philippseck mine ) was finally shut down in the 1930s.

Territorial reform

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the state government approved the voluntary amalgamation of the communities of Fauerbach vor der Höhe and Münster in the Friedberg district to form a community called Philippseck , which was to exist for only 13 months, with effect from December 31, 1970 . After the incorporation of the Philippseck community into the city of Butzbach on February 1, 1972, a local district with a local advisory council and mayor was set up for Münster as for every district . The local district includes the area of the Münster district without the Wiesental area .
