Wiesental is a district of the city of Butzbach in the Hessian Wetteraukreis . It is located in the district of Münster .

geography

Wiesental is eight kilometers south of the city center in the wooded foothills of the eastern Hintertaunus .

history

Wiesental was created in 1948 in the forest area of the then municipality of Münster as a settlement for people displaced from the Sudetenland on the border to the area of the south-eastern neighboring municipality of Fauerbach vor der Höhe . Here, in the immediate vicinity of the former Adlerhorst headquarters in Langenhain-Ziegenberg , which was blown up by the Americans after the end of the war and from the rubble of which building material could be obtained, a wooded southern slope was released for settlement construction. The settlement was opened up for regional traffic by the K 254 district road from Langenhain-Ziegenberg.

After a short interlude as a district of Philippseck , Wiesental has been a district of Butzbach since February 1, 1972. Since then, the development has expanded into the area around Fauerbach vor der Höhe. The city of Butzbach has set up the Wiesental district with a local advisory board and mayor from parts of both municipalities . Its area includes the built-up and cultivable parcels of the district as well as some adjacent forest-free parcels.
