middle Ages
The oldest surviving mention of the place can be found in the Codex Eberhardi between 780 and 817 as Rotenbeche. As early as 754, the funeral procession that carried the body of St. Boniface brought from Mainz to Fulda , stayed here.
In the Holy Roman Empire , the village belonged to the Freigericht Kaichen , which came under the rule of the Burggrafschaft Friedberg in the 15th century . As part of the Kaichen Free Court, Rodenbach fell to the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806 . Rodenbach was the ecclesiastical center of the Altenstadt area. The Rodenbacher mother parish included Lindheim, Enzheim, Heegheim, Oberau and even Altenstadt.

She mainly dealt with administrative , police and regulatory law . In this respect, the Solms land law remained the main source of law for the broad area of civil law . The Common Law was, moreover, if all these regulations did not contain provisions for a fact. This legal situation remained in force in the 19th century after Rodenbach was transferred to the Grand Duchy of Hesse. It was not until the Civil Code of January 1, 1900, which was uniformly valid throughout the German Reich , that this old particular law was suspended.
On August 1, 1972, Rodenbach was incorporated into the municipality of Altenstadt by virtue of state law as part of the regional reform in Hessen .
