history

As part of the introduction of the rural community order for the province of Westphalia , the Waltrop Office was founded in the Recklinghausen district in 1844 . The office included the three communities Henrichenburg , Horneburg and Waltrop . The office was initially administered by a common bailiff with the neighboring Datteln office, before the two offices were finally separated in 1857.

The municipality of Waltrop received town charter in 1939.

The Waltrop Office was dissolved by the Ruhr Area Act on January 1, 1975:

  • Henrichenburg was incorporated into the town of Castrop-Rauxel , which at the same time became part of the Recklinghausen district.
  • Horneburg was incorporated into the city of Datteln .
  • The boundaries of the city of Waltrop remained unchanged.

The legal successor to the Waltrop office is the city of Waltrop.
