The Marl office was an office in the Recklinghausen district in North Rhine-Westphalia until 1974 .

history

As part of the introduction of the rural community order for the province of Westphalia , the Marl office was founded in the Recklinghausen district in 1844 . Since then the office has included the four communities Altendorf-Ulfkotte , Hamm , Marl and Polsum . The official seat was in Marl.

In 1926, the law on the new regulation of the communal boundaries in the Rheinisch-Westfälischen industrial district resulted in the localities Lenkerbeck, Löntrop, Hüls and Korthausen from the dissolved Recklinghausen-Land and parts of Sinsen from the commune Oer in the commune of Marl and thus in the Marl district incorporated. The municipality of Marl received town charter in 1936, but remained in the Marl district.

The Marl Office was dissolved by the Ruhr Area Act on January 1, 1975:

  • Altendorf-Ulfkotte was largely incorporated into the city of Dorsten . A small part of the municipality with the Polsum substation came to the city of Gelsenkirchen.
  • The densely populated west was incorporated into Marl from the community of Hamm, while the village parts in the east came to the city of Haltern .
  • Polsum was incorporated into the city of Marl with the exception of the Bertlich district, which fell to the city of Herten .

The legal successor to the Marl office is the city of Marl.

coat of arms

Coat of arms of Amt Marl
Blazon : “In silver (white) a black continuous bar cross, covered with a heart shield divided obliquely to the left by silver (white) and black; above a black barrel iron, below diagonally crossed a silver (white) mallet and a silver (white) iron. "
Justification of the coat of arms: The coat of arms approved by the President of the Prussian Province of Westphalia in 1937 shows the electoral cross, as a symbol of belonging to Vest Recklinghausen, which belonged to the Archdiocese of Cologne until the Bull Pius VII. "De salute animarum", after which it was incorporated into the Monastery of Münster . Mallets and irons are inserted as symbols of mining. The barrel iron (Krampe) refers to the von Loe family , whose castle was near Marl. The coat of arms is similar to that of the city of Marl and shows the same symbols.
