Hamm-Bossendorf is a small district of the town of Haltern am See in North Rhine-Westphalia . Hamm-Bossendorf is part of the Recklinghausen district . The population of Hamm-Bossendorf has increased significantly in recent years due to a large new building area that has greatly changed the character of the district.

Geographical location

The place is on the northern edge of the Ruhr area in the Lippetal north of the Haard . It stretches along the banks of the Wesel-Datteln Canal without a central square .

history

Findings of broken fragments suggest settlement in the 9th century and earlier. Bossendorf was first mentioned in a document in 1188 as part of the Flaesheim parish . At that time Bossendorf was (at that time, including the present-day peasantry Mountain Bossendorf) Bosnippe later Boßnip. Hamm (today Hämmken) was mentioned in a document as early as 1122 under the name Hamma. Hamm and Bossendorf were then united in one parish in 1647. The today Marl belonging Sickingmühle belonged also to this.

The mayor's office Dorsten ( Mairie ) founded by the French rulers (1811-1813) , from 1844 Marl office , also included the community Hamm with the village Hamm (1895: 570 inhabitants) and the farmers Bossendorf (136), Herne (170) and Sickingmühle (166). Due to the industrialization and the proximity to the large employers Chemische Werke Hüls and Zeche Auguste Victoria in the north of the young city of Marl, the Marl settlement area spread beyond the boundaries of the Hammer district initially to the south of the Sickingmühler area (forest settlements) and further around the old Sickingmühle except for Herne area, so that Hamm and Bossendorf had grown to a total of just 1319 inhabitants on 10.23 km², while Sickingmühle and Herne had grown to a total of 11.122 inhabitants on 10.91 km². Logically, when the municipality of Hamm was dissolved as part of the regional reform that came into force on January 1, 1975, the now densely populated west was incorporated into Marl (current district of Marl-Hamm ), while the still village parts of Hamm, Bossendorf and Puppendahl went to the city of Haltern in the east and now form the hamlet of Hamm-Bossendorf.

During the Ruhr uprising on April 1, 1920 fighters against the Kapp Putsch in the Haard were shot and buried. The original memorial plaque and a fragment of a memorial destroyed during the Nazi era are now on permanent loan to the Ruhr Museum in Essen.

Religion and church

Like Haltern, Hamm-Bossendorf has a Catholic character. The Catholic community in Hamm-Bossendorf formed a parish community with Hullern and Flaesheim until 2011 . Although the farmers in Herne did not change to Haltern during the regional reform, as did Hamm (Hämmken) and Bossendorf, a large part of the farmers belonged to the parish of Heilig Kreuz. Since the Kreuztracht festival on September 18, 2011, all the Catholic parishes of Haltern have merged to form the parish of St.

The sports club holds a day of sports every year , which includes a church service. Due to family reasons, the now retired Bishop of Limburg , Franz Kamphaus , usually visited the parish once a year, where he also held mass.
