The Lindlar Regional Court is mentioned for the first time in a document dated April 21, 1477 . Court courts were served in Lindlar (Fronhof), Heiligenhoven, Scheel, Steinenbrücke, Steinbach and Georghausen at this time.

Modern times

At the end of the 17th century, Hohkeppel faded into the background as a venue, although the court kept its name. From 1691 the court was referred to as the “Churfürstliches Hohen Keppeler Landgericht zu Lindtlar”, so the place of the hearing was now Lindlar.

After Napoleon had elevated the Duchy of Berg to the Grand Duchy in 1806, the Lindlar Regional Court remained, but was elevated to a Tribunal of the Canton of Lindlar. The mayor's offices of Lindlar, Engelskirchen and Overath belonged to the district of the Lindlar Peace Court. However, Overath left as early as 1816 and came to Bensberg.

In 1879, in the course of the Courts Constitution Act passed in 1877, the courts of peace became local courts. The Lindlar District Court was subordinate to the Cologne Higher Regional Court . The district court building

The preserved building of the Lindlar District Court in Pollerhofstrasse is a massive quarry stone building erected in 1902. In 1974 the district court was dissolved. The Lindlar Youth Center has been housed in the old courthouse for several years.
