history

With the entry into force of the Courts Constitution Act in 1879, Oberhausen became the seat of a royal Prussian district court. This was initially housed in a residential building that had been bought and converted for this purpose, but which soon turned out to be too small in view of the rapid growth of the city. The current courthouse was built between 1904 and 1907 in the historicizing neo -renaissance style.
