building

The district court building is located in the northwest of Wesel city center on Herzogenring on the corner with Grafenring. It was built as a spacious building in the neo-renaissance style and in 1912 the Royal High School in Wesel moved into it. During the Second World War , it was occupied by the military from 1939 and in 1945 it was partially destroyed by bombs, so that it could not be used for the time being. The school building was rebuilt and used from 1950 as before by the boys 'high school and the municipal girls' high school in Wesel . In 1953 the girls' high school moved into a new building on Ritterstraße . After the gender-specific separation of schools was abolished in the 1970s, due to the proximity of the two grammar schools, the decision was made that the former boys’s grammar school, later renamed Konrad-Duden-grammar school, should relocate to the Feldmark district . On January 19, 1984, the district court moved into the building on Herzogenring. The building has been a listed building since 1987.
