history

With the introduction of the Prussian land law in 1795, all previous state and administrative governing bodies and upper offices were abolished. At the same time, the administration and judiciary were separated . A royal Prussian justice office was set up for the district around Wunsiedel and Wunsiedel got its own city court. In 1810, Wunsiedel became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria , and in 1812 the regional courts of Wunsiedel and Kirchenlamitz as well as Rehau and Selb were established. On January 6, 1812, the Bavarian Regional Court of Wunsiedel was formed. The old building at that time was located on Landgerichtsstrasse, which also housed a "criminal investigative court" for the regional court districts of Wunsiedel, Kirchenlamitz, Selb and Gefrees. In 1862 the offices of the Wunsiedel Regional Court were relocated. With the Courts Constitution Act of 1879, the regional court was converted into a district court.

The current building was built in 1907 and moved into in the same year. In 1932 the Thiersheim District Court was dissolved and the judicial district incorporated into the Wunsiedel District Court. During the Second World War , the district court was closed in April 1945 by order of the American armed forces and partially reopened at the end of May. It was officially reopened on August 24, 1945, but could only work to a limited extent. More than two years later, the land registry at the Wunsiedel district court was reopened.

In 1959 and 1973 respectively, the Kirchenlamitz and Selb district courts were closed and incorporated into the Wunsiedel district court. The building in which the court has been located since 1907 was given an extension, which was completed in 1973.
