Ana Caterina Morariu (born November 20, 1980 in Cluj-Napoca ) is a Romanian actress .

Life

Ana Caterina Morariu, who is also nicknamed Mora (Italian: blackberry), is 172 cm tall and speaks four languages: Romanian, Italian, French and English. She is the daughter of the Romanian ballerina Marineta Rodica Rotaru . At the age of six, she and her mother moved from Romania to Italy, where they settled first in Calabria and later in Tuscany . Her father stayed in Romania. After graduating from high school , she began studying at the National Film School in Rome because of the desire to become an actress. She took the course in recitation. After three years of training, she received the diploma of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome in 2002 . In the same year she made her theater debut, followed by various small roles in television and film productions, including Le cinque giornate di Milano (2004) and Alcide De Gasperi (2005), with which she gained a certain prominence in Italy. In the film Ocean's 12 , she was seen in a mini role (companion to Bruce Willis ). She worked with other internationally known actors and directors.

Her greatest success so far was in the role of Cecilia in Il mio miglior nemico (2006). For this role she was nominated for the David di Donatello Award in the category of best leading actress . She is mentioned as a student on the history page of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia .

Ana Caterina Morariu is known to the German-speaking audience from ZDF's four-part series War and Peace based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy , which was broadcast in January 2008; she played the role of Sonja Rostowa .
