Ana Guevara

Ana Guevara ( Ana Gabriela Guevara Espinoza ; born March 4, 1977 in Nogales , Sonora ) is a Mexican athlete .

From the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Guevara dominated the 400-meter distance for women, similar to her Central American colleague Félix Sánchez from the Dominican Republic in the men’s 400-meter hurdles. In 2002 she won all twelve races in which she competed. Together with Felix Sanchez, she won the Golden League in 2001 .

In 2000 in Sydney she was still fifth at the Olympic Games. She saw the next major event as a bronze medalist at the 2001 World Athletics Championships in Edmonton. She won the race at the 2003 World Championships in Paris with a clear personal record of 48.89 seconds.

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens she was one of the favorites for the gold medal, but had to be satisfied with the silver medal after a thrilling final fight. Olympic champion was Tonique Williams-Darling from the Bahamas.

She won bronze at the 2005 World Championships , and fourth at the 2007 World Championships .

With a height of 1.73 m, she has a competition weight of 61 kg.
