Ana Marcela Cunha (born March 23, 1992 in Salvador da Bahia ) is a Brazilian swimmer . She is a specialist in long distances in open water .

successes

At the 2008 Summer Olympics , she was sixteen-year-old and the youngest participant in the 10 km field and finished fifth in 1: 59: 36.8 hours. Only in the final sprint did she lose contact with the medal winners Larissa Iltschenko , Keri-Anne Payne and Cassandra Patten and Angela Maurer , but was able to leave Swann Oberson behind in the battle for fifth place.

At the 2011 World Swimming Championships in Shanghai , she was world champion over the 25 km in over 30  ° C warm water of the East China Sea in 5: 29: 22.9 ahead of Angela Maurer (5: 29: 25.0) and the Italian Alice Franco (5 : 29: 30.8).

At the 2015 World Swimming Championships in Kazan , Russia , she finished third over 10 km on the Kazanka in 1: 58: 26.5 behind the French Aurélie Muller (1: 58: 04.3) and the Dutch Sharon van Rouwendaal (1:58 : 06.7).
