The Anadyrgolf ( Russian Ана́дырский зали́в / Anadyrski saliw , also Gulf of Anadyr ) is a bay of the Bering Sea in eastern Siberia .
geography
Anadyrgolf is the largest bay on the west coast of the Bering Sea. The gulf is located in the northeast of Siberia and cuts into the Anadyr lowlands , between the foothills of the Koryak Mountains in the south and the Chukchi Peninsula in the north. Cape Nawarin ( Мыс Нава́рин ) forms the southern limit of the gulf . To the north of this are the Anadyr Liman , on which the city of Anadyr is located. To the north of this the Anadyr-Liman divides into two bays; the Onemen Bay ( залив Онемен ), into which the rivers Anadyr and Velikaja flow, and the Kantschalan-Liman ( Канчаланский лиман ), into which the river of the same name flows, Kantschalan . Further east along the coastline in the extreme north of the Anadyr Gulf is the Cross Bay ( Залив Креста ), on which the settlement Egwekinot is located. Cape Chukotka ( Мыс Чуко́тский ) forms the northeastern border of the Anadyr Gulf .
The gulf is about 400 kilometers wide, 278 kilometers long and has a maximum water depth of 105 meters. The tidal range is up to 3 meters. On average, the Gulf freezes over for ten months a year.
