action

Two pretty young Americans, Stephanie and Ellie, go on a bike tour through South America . In a small town in Argentina , near the border with Paraguay , they extensively celebrate the last evening of the trip. In the morning they overslept the bus to the airport. Since this does not leave until the next day, the girls drive to a nearby river, where they first relax. When it comes to an argument between the two, they split up. When Stephanie returns to the river, Ellie has disappeared.

In her search for her travel companion, Stephanie meets Michael, an American who had helped her and Ellie the night before against an intrusive male acquaintance from the local disco and who is himself looking for his missing friend Camilla, whose fate was briefly hinted at at the beginning of the story. Stephanie promises to get help from the only policeman in town, but at the same time goes in search of Ellie, who, it turns out, has been kidnapped by a girl trafficking ring. She finds and frees her friend, but Ellie falls on the run from her kidnapper and dies.

Eventually, Stephanie finds Ellies and her passport in the policeman's car and realizes that the policeman is working with the girl traffickers. Michael manages to get the gun from the police officer who then offers him to release his missing friend Camilla in exchange for Stephanie. In an unobserved moment, the policeman shoots Michael with a second weapon that he has with him. Stephanie is put on a boat but is able to escape and kill one of the kidnappers. On her further escape, the young woman also kills the police officer in a self-defense situation. After Stephanie has reached the border, she falls into the arms of a border police officer, exhausted and traumatized.
