Not so Eek

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anders Eek is a Norwegian drummer , guitarist and singer born on March 5, 1974 .

Career

Eek names Metallica , Iron Maiden , Black Sabbath , Paradise Lost , My Dying Bride and especially the first Cathedral album Forest of Equilibrium as a major influence on his own music career. At the beginning of the 1990s he became known as the drummer, guitarist and singer of the group Funeral . The beginning of his musical activity was in the heyday of the Norwegian black metal scene , which led to the fact that he did not see himself as part of the national metal following and viewed himself as an outsider to the metal scene . He describes this self-image as an important impulse for a free use of style elements that are unusual for metal. He mentions the death of two band members as a further influence for his music, which is constantly oriented towards Death Doom , Gothic Metal and Funeral Doom .

"I write from the heart and the heart is really hit when things like this happen."

In 2012, Eek suffered a myocardial infarction but recovered quickly.
