Life

Anders Jonas Brøns was born the son of a Dane and a Greenlander. His father Palle Brøns (1921-2008) had moved to Greenland in the 1940s, where he was employed as a miner in Ivittuut . There he met Else Maren Andrea Susanne Larsen († 1983), who was born on February 14, 1928 in Arsuk. Palle lived in Denmark in the late 1940s, while Anders Jonas Brøns was born in Arsuk. His father returned to Greenland and the couple opened a local shop.

Anders Jonas Brøns went to school in Greenland and Holbæk and finished high school in Nuuk in 1968 . He then completed his exams in 1973 at the commercial school in Ikast, Denmark . He was later to take over his parents' business, but at that time he found himself in the heyday of fishing in Arsuk and began to work as a fisherman himself in 1973. In 1977 he was employed by a shipbroker , where he stayed until 1985.

In 1984 he founded the trawler shipping company Egede & Brøns A / S together with Hans Pavia Egede . A few months later, Jens Kristian Friis Salling joined the company, which soon expanded as Polar Seafood in many European countries and Canada and is now the largest private company in Greenland and primarily supplies Scandinavia with fish, shrimp and fish products. Hans Pavia Egede left the company in 2000. Jens Salling and Anders Jonas Brøns were nicknamed “Rejekonger” ( German shrimp kings ). Both were included in the list of the richest Danes in 2018, each with 1.4 billion Danish kroner (around 200 million euros) in the top 100, making them the two richest Greenlanders. In addition to his work at Polar Seafood, he was a member of the supervisory boards of Grønlandsbanken and numerous other Greenlandic logistics and food companies. He also worked as the Icelandic consul general in Nuuk.

Anders Jonas Brøns first married the bank assistant Hanne (* 1949) on March 22, 1975, with whom he had four children. In his second marriage he married the doctor Parnuna Heilmann, with whom he had two more children. He was in a relationship with Gitte Christensen until his death.

On the morning of December 7, 2018, a male corpse was discovered in the harbor basin of the Danish city of Aalborg, which was Anders Jonas Brøns. He had gone out to dinner in town the night before and then died under unexplained circumstances. The police rated the death as an accident without external influence.
