Hans Pavia Egede

Hans Pavia Niels "Tatta" Egede (born December 3, 1954 in Nuuk ; † January 15, 2018 in Ebeltoft , Denmark ) was a Greenlandic politician , entrepreneur , sports official and honorary consul .

Life

Hans Pavia Egede was the son of the carpenter Jørgen Egede († 1976) and his wife Martha Mølgaard. The policeman Abel Egede (1945-2006) was his older brother. On May 9, 1987, Hans Pavia married his wife Åse (* 1956).

Hans Pavia Egede completed his trade exam in 1973. He then founded an auditing company in 1979. In 1985 he founded the trawler shipping company Egede & Brøns A / S together with Anders Jonas Brøns . This then resulted in Polar Seafood , where Hans Pavia Egede initially headed. He was also the director and chief executive officer of several other shipping and fishing companies. After a short time at Polar Seafood, he was ousted from the company by Jens Kristian Friis Salling . Brøns and Salling later became the richest men in Greenland through the company.

Hans Pavia Egede, who was active as a footballer in his younger years, was also chairman of Grønlands Boldspil Union , the Greenlandic football association, and a member of the board of directors of Grønlands Idrætsforbund . He was also the Swedish Honorary Consul for 33 years , for which he received the Swedish North Star Order as a 1st Class Knight .

He was active as a politician for the Atassut . When Bjarne Kreutzmann , who was previously also with Atassut, founded the Akulliit Partiiat , Hans Pavia Egede stood for it in the 1991 parliamentary election and both were able to move into Inatsisartut , where he stayed until 1995. He later sat again for the Atassut on the Nuuk Township Council for several terms . In 2008 he switched to the Inuit Ataqatigiit .

He was very committed to the development of his hometown, but later moved to Ebeltoft, Denmark, where he died in early 2018 at the age of 63.
