André Richard (Archbishop)

André Richard CSC (born June 30, 1937 in Saint-Ignace ) is Old Archbishop of Moncton .

Life

André Richard joined the religious order of the Congregation of the Holy Cross , made his profession on August 15, 1956, and was ordained a priest on February 17, 1963 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Bathurst on May 20, 1989 . The Archbishop of Moncton, Donat Chiasson , ordained him episcopal on August 9th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were James Hector MacDonald CSC, Bishop of Charlottetown , and Austin-Emile Burke , Bishop of Yarmouth .

On March 16, 2002, he was named Archbishop of Moncton. On June 15, 2012, Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
