André Rüdiger Simon (born August 21, 1967 in Kiel ) is a German surgeon and university professor in London .

Career

As the son of a cardiologist and a pediatrician , Simon studied medicine at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . He is a member of the Corps Palaiomarchia-Masovia (1988) and the Corps Masovia Königsberg zu Potsdam (1997). In 1996 he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD . He received his training in cardiac and thoracic surgery at Harvard Medical School and at the Hannover Medical School . In 2006 he completed his habilitation with Axel Haverich . April 1, 2010 he took a call to the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust ( Imperial College London in). As director, he succeeded Sir Magdi Yacoub . His main clinical areas of work are cardiac surgery, heart transplantation and lung transplantation . In 2007 he was one of the founders of the HeartHelp association , which is an aid organization in Eritrea .
