André Teixeira de Mesquita (born September 18, 1918 in Carbon-Blanc ) is a former Brazilian diplomat .

Life

André Teixeira de Mesquita is the son of Carlota Pita de Abreu and Manoel Teixeira. He studied law and social sciences at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro . After a competition he was appointed third class consul in 1943 and employed in the administration and consular administration departments and a year later in the ceremony department. In 1945 he assisted the Foreign Minister of Uruguay during his visit to Brazil and the General Secretary of Itamaraty at the 3rd Inter-American Conference on Radio Communications.

From 1946 to 1949 Mesquita was transferred to Madrid as third-class legation secretary and to Cairo until 1952 , where he was appointed second-class legation secretary in 1950 and was taken over as chargé d'affaires in 1951.

In 1953 he stood by Anastasio Somoza García , a year later Camille Chamoun and the papal legate Cardinal Adeodato Giovanni Piazza during his visits to Brazil. In 1955 he was appointed Master of Ceremonies of the Presidential Office and, in recognition of his performance, Secretary of the First Class. From 1956 to 1958 Mesquita worked as consul in Geneva, where he was appointed chargé d'affaires of the consulate general for the last two years. Subsequently he was appointed chargé d'affaires to Bogotá (Colombia) until 1961 , where he was appointed Legation Councilor in 1961.

In the same function, he took over an assignment from 1965 to 1967, initially in Vienna and from 1967 to 1969 in Tegucigalpa ( Honduras ). After an interim assignment from 1970 to 1974 as master of ceremonies, Mesquita was finally from 1974 to June 21, 1977 as ambassador in Vienna and at the same time as representative of the Brazilian government to the International Atomic Energy Agency and from May 1977 to December 15, 1986 in Oslo used.
