André de Toulongeon (* 1390 , † 1432 in the Holy Land ) was the Grand Stable Master of France from the Toulongeon family in 1419 .

origin

André de Toulongeon was the son of Tristan de Toulongeon (1350-1399), Baron de Sennecey , member of the Burgundian Great Council, and Jeanne de Cotebrune, called de Chalon. His grandfather Jean de Cotebrune was Marshal of Burgundy, as was Andrés older brother Jean II. De Toulongeon (1381-1427), Baron de Sennecey et Seigneur de Toulongeon. Another brother was Antoine de Toulongeon , who succeeded Jeans as Marshal of Burgundy in 1427. His sister was Jeanne de Toulongeon (1382-1419), the second wife of Henri de Champdivers' and thus sister-in-law of Odette de Champdivers , the mistress of King Charles VI. .

biography

André de Toulongeon started his career as stable master, then cupbearer to the Duke of Burgundy , and finally first stable master. In 1419 he became the Grand Stable Master of the French King. He was Seigneur de Mornay , Conseiller and Chambellan of the Duke.

In 1428 he married Cornelie, Bâtarde de Bourgogne, an illegitimate daughter of Duke Philip the Good , but already in 1430 went with Jacqueline de La Trémoille († August 1466), a daughter of Pierre de la Trémoille, Baron de Dours , and cousin of Georges de La Trémoilles , a second marriage; from this connection comes the only child Andrés, Claude de Toulongeon, Seigneur du Chuse et du Chastelier en Champagne . In the same year, Duke Philipp married Isabel de Portugal (1397-1471) , daughter of John I , King of Portugal , and Philippa of Lancaster , with André de Toulongeon effectively closing the marriage as the Burgundian ambassador to Portugal.

In 1429 he received the Seigneurie Saint-Aubin-sur-Loire . In 1432, the year of his death, he was made Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece . Since he died on a pilgrimage in the Holy Land, he could no longer receive this award. After his death, Jacqueline married Jean de Luxembourg , Bâtard de Saint-Pol, Seigneur de Haubourdin ( House of Luxemburg-Ligny ), who also became Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece in 1433.
