Andrea Dallavalle (born October 31, 1999 in Piacenza ) is an Italian athlete who specializes in the triple jump .

Origin and life

Andrea Dallavalle was born in the city of Piacenza. He comes from a sporty household. His parents were also track and field athletes. His older brother Lorenzo Dallavalle reached the final in the triple jump at the 2014 Junior World Championships . He himself specialized in the triple jump early after he started athletics.

Dallavalle attended a school with a focus on economics. He then took up a degree in business administration . He lives in Gossolengo , near the town where he was born, where he still trains today.

Athletic career

In 2015 Dallavalle competed in national championships for the first time and won the gold medal in the triple jump at both the Italian U18 championships and the U18 indoor championships. In July he took part in the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tbilisi. He won bronze in the triple jump and also started in the 4 x 100 meter relay. He then injured his meniscus, but was able to compete again in 2016. First, he became the Italian U18 long jump champion and successfully defended his indoor title in the triple jump. Then he went to the U18 European Championships , again in Tbilisi. In the final he achieved a distance of 15.74 m, which, in addition to a new best performance, also meant the silver medal. Two months later he put another seven centimeters on top of his previous record.

In 2017, Dallavalle became the Italian U20 champion in June with 16.46 m. Then he also took part for the first time in the national championship of adults, in which he succeeded in fifth place. In the same month he started at the U20 European Championships in his homeland, Italy. He was able to increase his best performance in the final to 16.87 m, with which he won the silver medal and also improved the Italian junior record in this discipline. In 2018 he could not improve, but became national U20 indoor champion. In 2019, Dallavalle again finished fifth at the Italian championships. In July he competed at the U23 European Championships in Gävle. He made it into the final, in which he managed a jump to 16.95 m, which to this day, as of 2020, is his best performance. In October he appeared at the World Championships in Doha for the first time in an international championship among adults. In the qualification, however, he only came to 15.09 m and thus finished last in his qualifying group. In addition, he landed on the penultimate place with a total of 33 starters.
