The European Summer Youth Olympic Festival 2015 took place from July 26th to August 1st, 2015 in Tbilisi, and thus for the first time in Georgia . The award took place during the 39th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committee in November 2010 in Belgrade, where Tbilisi was preferred to Brno .
The line-up of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) also included seven young athletes named by the German Athletics Association (DLV) . The choice fell on athletes who had narrowly missed participation in the U18 World Championships in Cali ( Colombia ).
A pheasant was chosen as the mascot and was named PEAKY . This was derived from the English word for pheasant peak and a Y for Youth (dt. Youth ).
