The European Olympic Youth Days 1991 ( European Youth Olympic Days 1991 ), found from 12 to 21 July 1991 in Brussels ( Belgium instead). It was the first summer edition of the European Youth Olympic Festival , a biennial multisport event for young athletes from Europe. 2084 athletes between 13 and 18 years from 33 countries took part. The decision to host the event in Brussels was made by the European Olympic Committee in 1989, after the BOIK had applied in early 1989 to organize youth Olympic competitions, the idea of ​​which had been pursued since 1985. Initially it was planned to only invite athletes from the 12 states of the European Community to the competitions. However, the EOK decided to invite athletes from all European countries.
