Ingrid Schmoliner

Ingrid Schmoliner (* 1978 in Villach ) is an Austrian musician (vocals, piano) of new music and jazz - who also touches on improvisation and folk music.

Live and act

Even before her classical studies at the Carinthian State Conservatory in Klagenfurt with a major in piano, Schmoliner was interested in improvised, experimental and contemporary music. She was further trained in classical singing, but also in jazz singing . As a guest soloist she sang at the Graz Opera in the opera Buio by Hannes Kerschbaumer. The composer wrote the choral work Denovaire Muata PEANUTS the solo part for them as contralto .

Together with Pascal Niggenkemper (double bass) and Joachim Badenhorst (saxophone) she released the album Watussi . In the Trio Taro (with Matthias Erian and Martin Schönlieb) she recorded the CD flaechten (Eastern Bloc). Furthermore, a composition for piano solo by and with Ingrid Schmoliner on record and two albums by the Trio Para with Elena Kakaliagou (horn and voice) and the double bass player Thomas Stempkowski have been released. She also worked with Xu Fengxia , Clayton Thomas , Marco Eneidi , Daniel Lercher, Susanna Gartmayer Frantz Loriot and Udo Schindler ( Blaublatt , 2016).

Currently also works as a music teacher. She also teaches overtone singing and yodeling . For years she has also dedicated herself to "researching pianos and the ideal wood preparations."

Schmoliner received the Carinthian Music Promotion Prize in 2013.
