Andrea Dettling (born January 19, 1987 in Altendorf ) is a Swiss ski racer . She is part of the Swiss-Ski national team and competes in the downhill , super-G , combined and giant slalom disciplines .
biography
In December 2002 Dettling competed in her first FIS races , appearances in the European Cup followed from December 2004. In 2006 she achieved her first successes when she was fourth in the downhill at the Junior World Championship and won the Swiss championship in combination . On January 6, 2007 she made her first appearance in the World Cup , at the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora .
During the 2007/08 season Dettling was mainly used in the European Cup. With one victory and six further podium finishes, she reached sixth place in the overall and third place in the downhill classification. On February 10th, 2008 she won the first World Cup points as 19th of the Super-G in Sestriere . Her best World Cup result so far is a third place, which she achieved on January 26, 2009 in Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Super-G. In her first World Championship participation in Val-d'Isère in 2009 , she was 22nd in the giant slalom, but fell out of the Super-G and the Super Combined. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she was twelfth in the Super-G and 23rd in the Super Combined, the giant slalom she could not finish.
Dettling had to end the 2010/11 season early after two shoe bruises at the end of January. Because of chronic pain from this injury, she was unable to participate in any races during the entire 2011/12 season. Since November 2012 Dettling has been back in the World Cup.
