Andrea Kluitmann

Andrea Kluitmann (* 1966 ) is a German literary translator .

Life

Kluitmann studied German , film studies and child psychiatry at the University of Bochum and in Amsterdam ; she completed this course in 1992 with a master's degree . Today she lives in Amsterdam and works as a freelance translator, presenter and journalist .

Kluitmann translates narrative literature, primarily for children and young people , from Dutch into German . The work she translated "We save lives, says my father" by Do Van Ranst was awarded the German Youth Literature Prize in 2007 ; In 2017, Kluitmann and the author Anna Woltz received the Catholic Children's and Young People's Book Prize and the Silver Feather for their translation of Plaster of Paris or How I Repaired the World in a Single Day ; the book and its translation were already awarded the lynx of the month in November 2016 been awarded.

She is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ.
