Andrea Wolfmayr (* 16 July 1953 as Andrea core in Gleisdorf / Styria ) is an Austrian writer .

Life

Andrea Wolfmayr attended elementary school and secondary school in Gleisdorf , where she passed her Matura in 1971 . 1979 to 1986 she completed her training as a bookseller. During this time she began to write. She studied music at the Graz University of Music as well as German and art history at the University of Graz , where she obtained her master's degree in 1994 and obtained her doctorate in philosophy in 1998 with a literary thesis . From 1995 to 1999 she worked as a bookseller again.

She has been publishing literary texts since the late 1970s ; In 1983 she took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt . From 1999 to 2006 she was a member of the ÖVP in the Austrian National Council . She has lived as a freelance writer in Gleisdorf since 2006 and worked from 2007 to 2013 in Graz in the cultural office of the Graz City Administration.

Andrea Wolfmayr is the author of novels , short stories , children's books and essays .

Andrea Wolfmayr was a member of the Graz Authors' Assembly and has been a member of the PEN Club since 2008 .
