Andreas Albrecht (chemist)

Andreas Christoph Albrecht (born June 3, 1927 in California - † September 26, 2002 ) was an American chemist .

Life

Andreas Albrecht's father came from Germany. Andreas Albrecht grew up in Washington, DC , Baton Rouge and Vienna . He studied chemistry at Berkeley , where he also met his future wife Genia Solomon. He completed his studies in 1950. The couple moved to Washington, where Albrecht received his doctorate in 1954 . The Albrecht couple then moved to Cambridge (Massachusetts) . Andreas Albrecht received a postdoctoral position at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology , his wife was employed at Harvard University .

In 1956 Andreas Christoph Albrecht moved to Ithaca (New York) . He became an instructor, then an assistant professor, 1962 associate professor and 1965 full professor of physical chemistry at Cornell University .

Andreas Albrecht took on numerous duties as an exchange and visiting professor and belonged to many scientific associations. In 1986 he received the New York Academy of Science Polychrome Corporation Award in Photochemistry, the Lippincott Medal in 1988 and the Earle K. Plyler Prize of the American Physical Society in 1990 . In 1992 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .

Her marriage to Genia Solomon had four children.
