Life

Andreas Gravenhorst devoted himself to the study of theology in Halle , worked from 1707 to 1716 as an informator at the pedagogy of the Francke Foundations in Halle and in 1716 received a preaching position in Schönberg in Saxony . He gave this up after four years of activity when he was offered the rectorate of the school in Hachenburg in the Westerwald in 1720 . He published several writings, including a programmatic account of his work at his school ( Complicated report from the establishment of the Latin School in Hachenburg , Frankfurt 1722), the new, improved edition of Dresser's Greek reading book ( Dresseri collectiones litteraturae graecae, edidit et Posselii colloquiis familiaribus auxit , Berleburg 1726) as well as some school programs:

  • De eo, quod utile et justum est circa examina in scholis publicis , 1722
  • De examinum publicorum in scholis utilitate , 1723
  • De commodis praeceptorum circa scholastica examina , 1724
  • De scholarum publicarum necessitate, carmine heroico , 1724
  • De universali imitatione exemplo poetico demonstrata , 1725

In 1725 Gravenhorst went to Esens as a preacher, where he died two years later at the age of 43.
