Andreas Höfele

Andreas Höfele (born September 19, 1950 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a university professor of English philology and a German writer .

Life

Andreas Höfele studied English , German , art history and theater studies in Frankfurt am Main and Munich . In 1984 he completed his habilitation and was appointed private lecturer .

In 1985 he was visiting professor at the University of New Mexico , Albuquerque , USA . From 1986 to 1992 he was Professor of Theater Studies at the University of Munich . In 1992 a professorship for English studies at the University of Heidelberg followed . Since 2000 he has held the chair for English literary studies (focus on Shakespeare and the early modern period ) at the Ludwig Maximilians University ( Munich ). He lives on the Ammersee . From October 2008 to September 2010 he held a research professorship ( LMUexcellent ). Since 1999 he has been a corresponding member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences .

Höfele is a member of the board of directors of the German Shakespeare Society and was its president from 2002–2011. He also publishes literary works and is co-editor of the magazine POETICA . He published his first literary book Das Tal in 1975.
