Andreas Herrlein

Andreas Herrlein (born September 6, 1738 in Kleinbardorf ; † May 2, 1817 in Laibach ) was a German painter and drawing teacher . He came from the Herrlein family of painters .

Life

Andreas Herrlein's father, who came from Hammelburg , was a baker and barrel painter in Münnerstadt and from around 1732 in Kleinbardorf . From him, Andreas and his older brothers Johann Andreas Herrlein and Johann Peter Herrlein received their first training in painting. Andreas Herrlein was a drawing teacher at the elementary school in Ljubljana, founded in 1775, from 1778 to 1804 . In 1794 he became a member of the Philoharmonicorum Academy. In addition, before 1807 he was deputy chairman of the Ljubljana city administration.

Andreas Herrlein's specialty was portrait painting. Here he made numerous portraits of Ljubljana personalities.
