Andreas Hoppe (General)

Andreas Hoppe (* 1965 ) is a Brigadier General of the Air Force of the German Armed Forces and has been Head of Air at the Air Force Command in Cologne since July 1, 2018 .

Military career

Hoppe completed a degree in electrical engineering at the University of the German Armed Forces and trained as an aircraft pilot at the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) program at Sheppard Air Force Base in the USA . After various aviation assignments (including with Fighter Bomber Wing 34 in Memmingen ), Hoppe completed general staff training from 1997 to 1999 at the command academy of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg . After 1999 he was squadron commander of the 2nd Flying Squadron of Fighter Bomber Wing 31 in Nörvenich . This was followed in 2002 by a staff assignment at the 2nd Air Force Division in Birkenfeld , in 2005 as a lecturer at the command academy of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg and from 2008 to July 2010 as an adjutant to the Deputy General Inspector of the German Armed Forces Lieutenant General Johann-Georg Dora . Of 8. July 2010 to 19 December 2014 Hoppe was commodore of the Fighter Bomber Wing 31 and the Tactical Air Force Squadron 31 "Boelcke" in Nörvenich. This was followed by a position as head of the Armed Forces Management Unit I 5 ( permanent domestic tasks (sea / air); principle of flight operations and military SAR service ; coordinating management of the LufABw ; use of space; territorial missile defense ) at the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn .

Service as a general

On July 1, 2018, Hoppe, succeeding Brigadier General Stefan Scheibl , became head of the air department in the air force command in Cologne . Here he was also promoted to brigadier general.

Private

Hoppe is the son of Joachim Hoppe, who in 1988 led the Boelcke 31 Boelcke fighter-bomber squadron as commodore. Hoppe is married and has two daughters.
