Andreas Kaufmann (born October 5, 1953 in Mannheim ) is an Austrian entrepreneur. He is chairman of the supervisory board of Leica Camera AG .

Andreas Kaufmann grew up with his two brothers Christian and Michael in Schwäbisch Gmünd . He studied literature, history and political science at the University of Stuttgart and was established in 1991 with a record of the history and origins of the laity game and the early history of the amateur theater movement for Dr. phil. PhD . After completing his studies, Kaufmann worked as a high school teacher for history, social studies and German at the Filstal Waldorf School in Göppingen until 2000 .

Before her death in 1998 the aunt and paper industrialist Harriet Hartmann (Frantschach AG) had adopted the nephews Andreas, Christian and Michael Kaufmann. The testator left a fortune of around 1.5 billion euros. With the capital, the three brothers founded the investment company ACM Projektentwicklung GmbH in 2002 with Andreas Kaufmann as managing director. Together with the holding company, he initially took over 27.2 percent of the shares in Leica Camera AG from Solms in 2004 and in 2005 also became the company's supervisory board chairman. In 2006 he finally became majority owner with 96.5 percent of the shares. Kaufmann invested in Leica and carried out a restructuring . Between February 2008 and March 2009 he was CEO of Leica Camera AG himself. Since then he has been chairman of the Leica Supervisory Board again. Under his aegis, the company was able to make a profit again, bring innovations to the market and, in 2014, move into a new company headquarters in Wetzlar with the Leica World .

Andreas Kaufmann is married to Karin Rehn-Kaufmann (* 1957) and has three children. His brother-in-law is Götz Rehn . He has lived in Salzburg with his family since 2002 .
