Andreas Koch (* 1970 in Stuttgart ) is a German artist, graphic designer and publisher of the magazine "von Hundred".

Life

Andreas Koch studied fine arts at the  Berlin University of the Arts  with Dieter Appelt  and Christiane Möbus  and graduated in 1998 with a master's degree

From 1996 to 2004 he ran the Koch und Kesslau gallery together with Sybille Kesslau and thus took part in the Art Forum Berlin, Frieze in London and Art Basel Miami Beach . The gallery exhibited the artists Kai Schiemenz, Jenny Rosemeyer , Sofia Hultén, Christian Schwarzwald , René Lück and Tilman Wendland , among others . The gallery won the award for the best stand (Project Spaces) at the Art Forum Berlin 2001.

He taught at the Udk Berlin, the KHB Weissensee, Hfbk Dresden, Hbk Braunschweig, bbk Berlin and Goldrausch. As an artist, he was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation, twice received the Berlin working grant from the Senate (2000, 2011), the Bonn Art Fund (2008) and a grant from the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation (2000). He exhibited his work in and outside Berlin, including in 2013 at the Kunstverein Arnsberg . In 2015 the house on Lützowplatz in Berlin showed a partly retrospective solo exhibition.

His work is mainly about space and its perception. Using different media, he changes spatial and temporal references and rearranges them. His work is at the interface between two- and three-dimensionality, between photography, film and sculpture.

Others

Andreas Koch is a member of the Association Internationale des Critiques d'Art (AICA). Since 2006 he has been the publisher, author and editor of the art magazine "von Hundred", founded with Kito Nedo and managed together with Barbara Buchmaier , which follows the Berlin art scene with a critical eye. He is also an occasional contributor to Spike magazine.

As a book designer, Andreas Koch designed books and catalogs for artists such as Olafur Eliasson , Elmgreen and Dragset , Eberhard Havekost , Veronika Kellndorfer and Yarisal & Kublitz. In 2014 the cookbook “The Kitchen” by the Eliasson studio was nominated for the shortlist of the best books in 2013, as was the 2015 book “Weltausstellung” by Stephanie Kloss. From 1993 to 1999 he worked as a layouter for the Berlin city newspaper “ Scheinschlag” . Since 1994 he has designed the homeless newspaper " motz ". He works in the office for film and design, Berlin with Stefan Stefanescu, Daniel Wiesmann, Sebastian Fessel and Kai Dieterich.

Andreas Koch has lived in Berlin since 1992 and has two children with the artist Kerstin Gottschalk.
