Andreas Koller (born February 24, 1961 in Vienna ) is an Austrian journalist .

Life

Koller began his journalistic career in 1983 as a freelancer in the internal politics department of the newspaper Die Presse and in 1984 he became editor in the same department. In 1985 he received his doctorate from the University of Vienna. phil. in political science / journalism with the dissertation on the subject of conflict and conflict resolution in parliament using the example of the National Council and the Lower Austrian Landtag . In 1988 he moved to the Viennese editorial office of the Salzburger Nachrichten .

Andreas Koller is director of the Vienna editorial, head of the department home affairs and since 2006 deputy chief editor of the Salzburger Nachrichten . In addition, Koller also acts as a moderator of roundtables, speaker at symposia and in TV discussions on topics of journalism and Austrian domestic politics. Koller has been President of the Concordia Press Club since 2014 . He is also Senate Spokesman for the Austrian Press Council and a board member of the Board of Trustees for Journalist Training. He heads the journalism advisory board of the Association of Austrian Newspapers (VÖZ) as chairman. For many years, Koller was chairman of the Quality in Journalism Initiative and the Association of Parliamentary Editors. In autumn 2016 he held the Theodor Herzl lectureship for the poetics of journalism.

Awards

In 2000, Koller was awarded the Kurt Vorhofer - Price for journalistic achievements in the field of political reporting. In 2007 he was honored with the first Austrian Constitutional Prize. In 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2019 he was named " Domestic Policy Journalist of the Year " by the industry journal Der Österreichische Journalist . In 2010 he was also named "Journalist of the Year" as the overall winner. 2012 Koller was with René Marcic - Price awarded the province of Salzburg.
