Kurt Vorhofer
Kurt Vorhofer (born July 28, 1929 in Salzburg ; † May 25, 1995 in Aflenz ) was an Austrian journalist.
Life
After graduating from high school in Salzburg, Kurt Vorhofer moved to Vienna in 1947 and enrolled at the university, majoring in law. In 1947 he became a member of the Catholic student union KaV Norica Vienna . In 1956 he started working for the “ Kleine Zeitung ” in Graz as an editorial candidate. Two years later he was appointed editor and in 1968 deputy editor-in-chief.
After the “Kleine Zeitung” opened an editorial office in Vienna in May 1959, he took over the management, which he then held for over 35 years - until his retirement at the end of 1994.
Vorhofer became the doyen of Austrian domestic politics journalism and was respected across party lines.

Kurt Vorhofer Prize
Since 1996, the journalists' union has been awarding the Kurt Vorhofer Prize in cooperation with the “Kleine Zeitung” .
