Andreas L. Hofbauer (* 1967 in Vienna ) is an Austrian philosopher , writer , psychohistorian and translator .

Live and act

Andreas L. Hofbauer completed a degree in philosophy at the University of Vienna . 1994 Prize of the Federal Minister for Science and Research Erhard Busek . Two-year DAAD scholarship and funding for research stays in Berlin and Oxford. He received his doctorate in 1997 in the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences I at the Free University of Berlin under Dietmar Kamper and Georg Christoph Tholen .

His philosophical works deal with the linguistic, political and gender-related constructional relationships of community and society. The main influences are ancient Greek philosophy, the thinking of Friedrich Nietzsche , deconstruction and post-structuralism . In numerous essays, references are repeatedly made to literary texts by authors as diverse as Albert Drach , Thomas De Quincey or Herman Melville .

Hofbauer himself sometimes works with visual artists for very long periods of time. The result is artist books that go beyond the conventional format of catalogs. Hofbauer exercises curatorial and advisory curatorial activities, for example for the CTM in Berlin. In addition, there are his own installation-artistic works, which mostly make use of various sound and sound media.
