Andreas Michelmann
Andreas Michelmann (born October 13, 1959 in Aschersleben ) is a German local politician and sports official .
Career
Michelmann completed his German studies at the University of Leipzig with a diploma. Political home is the voters' initiative “Die Aschersleber Bürger” (WIDAB). He has been Lord Mayor of the city of Aschersleben (Saxony-Anhalt) since 1994 .
In June 2010 he was elected to succeed Eberhard Gläser as President of the Handball Association of Saxony-Anhalt (HVSA) and in September 2013 as Vice President of the German Handball Federation (DHB).
On July 9, 2015, Michelmann was unanimously proposed by a DHB search committee as the top candidate for the successor to Bernhard Bauer as DHB President. Michelmann was elected President at an extraordinary Bundestag of the association on September 26, 2015.
