Andreas Ommer

Andreas Ommer (born November 9, 1963 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a German specialist in general and visceral surgery . He is a resident doctor in the competence center for coloproctology in the rectum and colon center in Essen. Ommer is an expert in proctology and coloproctology.

Life

Ommer studied human medicine at the Essen University Hospital from 1983 to 1989 . After obtaining his license to practice medicine in 1989 and doctorate in 1989 at the Institute for Anatomy at the University of GHS Essen , he worked from 1989 to 1996 as an assistant doctor in the surgical clinic of the Evangelical Bethesda Hospital in Duisburg (chief physician W. Stremmel). After the specialist certification , he worked from 1996 to 1998 as a specialist in coloproctology in the Coloproctology Clinic of the St. Joseph Hospital Duisburg (Head Physician S. Athanasiadis), followed by a senior physician activity from 2000 to 2001 in the Coloproctology Clinic of the Proper Hospital Recklinghausen (Head Physician E. Berg).

In 2001 he then moved to the Clinic for Surgery and the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Essen-Mitte Clinic, Protestant Huyssens Foundation (chief physician MK Walz). Ommer has been a speaker at various national congresses. He is also the author of scientific articles in specialist journals and books, mainly on the subject of coloproctology .

Ommer is co-editor of the journal coloproctology from Springer Verlag. The journal is the association journal of the German Society for Coloproctology (DGK), Professional Association of Coloproctologists in Germany (BCD), Working Group for Coloproctology (ACP) of the Austrian Society for Surgery, Swiss Working Group for Coloproctology (SAKP), German Society for Neurogastroenterology and Motility ( GNM).

On behalf of the German Society for General and Visceral Surgery and as the official guideline officer of the Surgical Working Group for Coloproctology (CACP), Ommer was the author responsible for creating guidelines on the following topics:

  • Anal abscesses (2012, revised version 2017)
  • Rectovaginal Fistulas (2012, revised version 2017)
  • Pilonidal Sinus (2014)
