The German Society for Coloproctology eV (DGK) is a scientific specialist society .

The purpose of the association is to promote science and research and to provide vocational training in the field of coloproctology . This should z. The association awards the since 2003 Jens J. Kirsch Award for outstanding research in the field of Coloproctology and since 2004 the Poster Award for the best poster presentation in the field of Coloproctology as part of the 1997 year in Munich held German Koloproktologen Congress . According to their own statements, this is "[t] he biggest annual scientific event in the field of coloproctology [...]". The 44th German Coloproctologist Congress from 15. – 17. March 2018 counted around 1,300 visitors.

The AWMF accepted the DGK as a member in 2001.
