Andreas Rank (* 1955 in Altenburg in Thuringia ) is a German painter , artist , set and costume designer .

Rank received his artistic training from 1977 to 1982 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden . His first engagement as a stage and From 1982 to 1988 he was a costume designer at the theater of the city of Cottbus . After leaving for the West in 1988, he lived as a painter in Kiel . From 1989 to 1997 he worked as a set designer at the Osnabrück Municipal Theaters , then from 1997 to 2001 as head of equipment at the Landestheater Coburg .

Since 2001 he has been working exclusively as a freelancer. He created stage sets and was responsible for equipment at numerous national and international theaters. He was a guest at the Renaissance Theater Berlin , the Theater am Neumarkt Zurich , the Theater an der Winkelwiese , the State Theater Mainz , the Landestheater Marburg and the theaters in Celle, Kaiserslautern and Nuremberg.

His painterly and visual artistic work has been presented in numerous exhibitions. His works are in public and private ownership by collectors in Germany, Switzerland and the USA .

In addition, since 1998 he has had several teaching positions at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences , Modeco in Zurich and the University of Music and Theater in Leipzig .

From 2007 to 2012 he ran the artdepot-r gallery on Bonner Strasse in Berlin .

Rank has lived in the Berlin artists' colony for many years .
