history

The small village of Sonnenburg - before 1820 still Sonnenberg called - was a big Vorwerk and until 1928 a part of the Gutsbezirks Sillginnen ( Polish Silginy ) in the district Gerdauen in the administrative district of Kaliningrad in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1905, 68 residents were registered in Sonnenburg.

On September 30, 1928, the Sonnenburg Vorwerk was reclassified from the Sillginnen manor into the Modgarben rural community ( Modgarby in Polish ). On 23 May 1929, the reclassification Sonnenburg's done from the District Sillginnen in a circle in the Gerdauen located in the district Rastenburg District Sans sheaves (Polish Gęsie Góry ).

As a result of the war, Sonnenburg came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and received the Polish form of the name "Krzeczewo". Today it is part of the rural community Barciany (Barten) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . In 2011 Krzeczewo had 25 inhabitants.
