Pieszewo ( German  Petermanns ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Barciany (rural community Barten ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Pieszewo is located in the northern center of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , ten kilometers north of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

The small village of Petermanns was originally just a few small farms. In 1785 it was mentioned as "a noble farming village" with eight fireplaces. In 1874 the Petermanns came to the newly established Wehlack district ( Skierki in Polish ) in the East Prussian district of Rastenburg .

On September 30, 1928, the rural community of Petermanns expanded to include the neighboring village of Platlack (in Polish Platławki , no longer existing), which was incorporated. On May 23, 1929, Petermanns was reclassified to the Rodehlen district (in Polish Rodele ) and on April 1, 1939, it was incorporated into the Rodehlen community.

While Petermanns had a total of 82 inhabitants in 1820, there were 49 in 1885, only 33 in 1905, 26 in 1910 and 176 in 1933.

With the whole of southern East Prussia , Petermanns was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war . It received the Polish name form "Pieszewo" and is now a hamlet in the village of Winda (Wenden) - Polish: Przysiółek wsi Winda - in the group of the rural community Barciany (Barten) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945, Petermanns was parish in the Protestant church of Wenden in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of Rastenburg in what was then the diocese of Warmia .

Today Pieszewo belongs to the Catholic parish Winda in the current Archdiocese of Warmia and to the Protestant parish of Barciany , a branch parish of the Johanneskirche Kętrzyn in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Petermanns is on a side street that leads from Winda (Wenden) at Voiwodschaftsstraße 591 (former German Reichsstraße 141 ) directly into the village. There is no connection to rail traffic for Pieszewo. Until 1945, Wenden was the next station on the Rastenburg – Drengfurth and Wenden – Barten lines of the Rastenburger Kleinbahnen .
