history

The small town called Rablack before 1871 originally only consisted of a few small farms. In 1785 the place is mentioned as a noble farming village with nine fireplaces. In 1874 came the rural community Rawlack to the recently completed District Wehlack ( Polish Skierki ) of the county Rastenburg in the administrative district of Kaliningrad in the Prussian province of East Prussia belongs. Rawlack had 73 inhabitants in 1820, 38 in 1885, 24 in 1924, and only 27 in 1910.

On April 1, 1930, the rural community Rawlack lost its independence and was incorporated into Wehlack ( Skierki ).

In 1945, as a result of the war, all of southern East Prussia was transferred to Poland . This also affected Rawlack, which received the Polish form of the name "Rowy". Today it is a "Przysiółek wsi Szaty Wielkie" (a hamlet of the village Szaty Wielkie (large shade) ) within the rural community Barciany (Barten) in kętrzyn county (county Rastenburg ) until 1998, the Olsztyn province , since the Warmia and Mazury belong .

church

Until 1945 Rawlack was parish in the Protestant church of Wenden in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of Kętrzyn in the then diocese of Warmia .

Today Rowy belongs on the Catholic side to the parish Winda in the current Archdiocese of Warmia , and on the Protestant side to the Johanneskirche Kętrzyn in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
