Moruny ( German Maraunen ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Barciany (Barten) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).
Geographical location
Moruny is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , eight kilometers north of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German Rastenburg ).
history
The place called Cromonen around 1820 was a large Vorwerk with a brick factory. He belonged to Wehlack ( Polish Skierki ) in the district of the same name in the East Prussian district of Rastenburg . Maraunen had eleven inhabitants in 1820, 76 in 1885 and 64 in 1905.
In 1945 Maraunen was in consequence of the war with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland handed over and received the Polish form of the name "Moruny". Today the settlement ( Osada in Polish ) is part of the Barciany (Barten) rural community in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945 Maraunen was parish in the Protestant church Wenden in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church Rastenburg in the then diocese of Warmia .
Today Moruny belongs to the Catholic parish Winda in what is now the Archdiocese of Warmia , as well as to the Evangelical Johanneskirche Kętrzyn within the Diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
traffic
Moruny can be reached via a spur road that branches off at Skierki (Wehlack) from Voiwodschaftsstrasse 591 (former German Reichsstrasse 141 ). Another side street connects the neighboring towns of Szaty Wielkie (Groß Schatten) and Rowy (Rawlack) with Moruny.
There is no connection to rail traffic .
