The place called Cromonen around 1820 was a large Vorwerk with a brick factory. He belonged to Wehlack ( Polish Skierki ) in the district of the same name in the East Prussian district of Rastenburg . Maraunen had eleven inhabitants in 1820, 76 in 1885 and 64 in 1905.

Today the settlement ( Osada in Polish ) is part of the Barciany (Barten) rural community in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .
